Remember, your role as the primary facilitator is to be attentive and responsive to the group you are serving while maintaining focus of the agenda and its objectives. Here are the key takeaways for you to fulfill your role as a KQT Facilitator.
Share clear and transparent intentions
Defining clear objectives for the space you facilitate will help you generate the agenda, people, activities, and support systems, as well as evaluate if you are reaching your objective.
Respect your energy and your capacity
Readiness is not just about feeling confident in the content. It’s important that you also feel spacious and generous with your energy. To prevent burnout and potential negative outcomes, we recommend checking in with yourself about what resources, capacity, and energy you have to facilitate this event. Browse the Resources tab and use the Readiness diagnostic to help you.
Ask for help
We recommend having 2 co-facilitators or more depending on the size of the group. If the size of the group is small, the second facilitator can always play the role of tech coordinator or vibe moderator. Browse the Resources tab and use the Roles Worksheet to help you.
Gather feedback
Every event is an opportunity to hear and learn from the participants you are serving. There are many ways you can gather feedback from your audience. Browse the Resources tab and use the Feedback Template to help you.
Understand your own proximity, power, and privilege
We recommend that you share aspects of your identity, experience, and community with the participants you’re seeking to reach the most. Consider your relationship to the different participants in the space as this may influence whether they feel more or less comfortable, excited, or safe to join the session.
Keep learning
We recommend attending a live training if you are a new facilitator. If you are new to facilitating participants based on identity, community, or experience, as well as the topic/content area, we recommend you seek a training or consult an experienced facilitator.
