Before planning your event, it’s essential to identify what would feel successful and what outcomes you intend to achieve.
Are your goals to create a space for KQTs to meet and connect with new friends? Or perhaps your goals are to have KQTs learn new skills and practice in a safer space with one another.
Whatever your desired outcomes may be, identifying the success criteria will help you make the right choices of what to and what not to include in your event.
Try this out:
What are the top three goals you hope to achieve from this event?
- Example: Meet and Onboard 10 new volunteers; Brainstorm ideas for a KQT arts showcase; Share resources with other KQTs on accessing gender-affirming healthcare; etc.
What would success in achieving these goals look/feel like?
- Example: Participants feel excited, inspired, and welcomed into their new role as a volunteer; Attendees are aligned on the next steps for producing an arts showcase; Attendees feel less alone in their gender transition journey and make new connections; etc.
Name 2-3 activities, discussions, or prompts that could take place in this event to support these goals.
- Example: Breakout groups of 5-6 KQTs for brainstorming themes; Storytelling for 20 minutes where KQTs can share their experiences; Discussion guides are provided for KQTs to use in their small groups; etc.
